The Sarawak River flows left to right by the centre of town. Fort Margherita (clickable) is on a hill across river (centre of picture). The mountain on the horizon is Gunong Santubong (clickable). The Astana (clickable), can be seen immediately under the triangular-shaped building on a hill (Kuching North City Council Building) to the left of G. Santubong. Behind the trees (clickable) to the left of the pink square building by the road (Chinese History Museum; bottom centre-left of picture) is one of the landing areas for boats (tambangs) taking passengers across river. Click on the river in the area where the white dual-cone roofed structure is (bandstand; left of picture) to see a view downstream. At bottom right of picture is a Chinese temple (clickable). The rooftops (clickable) on picture left are of period Chinese shophouses in the stretch known as the "main bazaar".
