On the easy part of the track up the mountain. It is already some way up in height since the trees here
are already thin, unlike the giants at the start of the track. Rocks are barely discernible and forest litter
abounds. This is to change higher up where sandstone rocks and boulders are exposed and trees hang
on to the mountain via gnarled exposed roots. I am carrying a backpack with food and 1.5 litres of water
(not enough for a 9 h trek!) and a camera in a bag.
