This is a
cocktail featuring tequila (any type will do), orange juice and
grenadine. Vodka can also be used as a substitute for tequila in
which case the cocktail is called a Vodka Sunrise. The latter
weather phenomenon (graded red, orange and yellow hues) is
recreated visually in this drink.
A Tequila Sunrise cocktail
On the left is pomegranate juice and the grenadine (open jar)
which I prepared from it
INGREDIENTS
- Orange
juice
- Tequila
(or vodka)
- Grenadine
This can be store-bought or prepared thus:
Take two measures of pomegranate juice and add three
measures of sugar;
Heat until boiling.
This concoction is ready for use after cooling down.
METHOD
- Fill a tall glass
(such as a highball glass)
- Add your desired
quantity of tequila.
- Fill the glass with
orange juice.
- Dribble grenadine
over the back of a spoon into the drink at the side of the
glass to make the grenadine slide down to the bottom without
much mixing with the orange juice.
- Use a long handled
spoon to gently stir the mixture from the bottom of the
glass to effect a colour gradient from red to orange to
yellow (the sunrise).
Enjoy!
